The Olive Shed was founded on a simple but powerful idea: when people are given the tools to earn their own destiny, they unlock a lifetime of purpose and possibility. From our earliest projects supporting children in Los Cabos to our latest work with Gilayo®, we have always believed that true happiness comes from creating something with your own hands and heart.
Today, we honor that belief by launching the Gilayo® Plate Initiative — a program dedicated to empowering young members of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) with free Gilayo® plates. These patented, modular steel plates can be used to build off-grid homes, storage units, shelters for the unhoused, and more.
The goal is simple: give youth the means to build something tangible for their future and for their communities.
Why This Matters
From Tragedy to Legacy
The recent tragic loss of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk shook our community. While we grieve, we also choose action. This initiative is a living tribute to the principles of freedom, responsibility, and self-determination that Charlie championed.
The Power of “Earn”
Our favorite word is earn. We believe that earning—through commitment, hard work, and vision—creates both dignity and joy. The Gilayo® Plate Initiative invites young leaders to design and construct projects that embody these values.
Grassroots Growth Over Bureaucracy
Gilayo® was born to help the next generation. We’ve faced rejection from large government agencies — even when solutions for disaster relief and homelessness were desperately needed. We remain convinced that real change begins at the grassroots level, not in boardrooms. Just as Charlie believed, the Youth is our future.
Global Impact Starts Locally
By giving the youth of TPUSA the tools to create sustainable structures and a stronger relationship with the planet, we hope to spark a movement that reaches far beyond our borders.
How It Works
Free Plates for TPUSA Youth
Any TPUSA member or new recruit can receive Gilayo® plates at no cost.
Build Your Vision
Use them to create an off-grid cabin, a storage unit, or even a shelter for people in need. Your imagination sets the limits.
Open-Source Manufacturing
We’ll share the CNC files so steel fabricators anywhere can produce Gilayo® plates, reducing shipping costs and making global participation possible.
A Legacy Letter, A Call to Action
Exactly one year ago, we sent an introductory letter to some of the world’s largest steel companies. The response was silence. We’re proving that their “not our business model” answer was shortsighted. Grassroots action can accomplish what corporate hesitation cannot.
On September 23, 2025, the first anniversary of that letter — and just days after a world-wide moment of remembrance — we launch this initiative. We invite you to join us, share the story, and help turn this vision into a global movement.
